Often stir-fried with a mixture of colorful vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, and onions, it's seasoned with garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil to enhance its flavors.

• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• 1 small onion, thinly sliced
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
• 1 medium head of cabbage, thinly sliced
• 1 carrot, julienned or thinly sliced
• 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
• 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari (for gluten-free)
• 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
• 1 tablespoon sesame oil
• 1 teaspoon sriracha or other hot sauce (optional, for heat)
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
• Sesame seeds (for garnish)
• Cooked rice or noodles (for serving, optional)


1. Prepare the Vegetables:
◦ Thinly slice the onion, mince the garlic and ginger, thinly slice the cabbage, julienne the carrot, and thinly slice the red bell pepper. Set aside.
2. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
◦ In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
◦ Add the sliced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until it becomes translucent.
◦ Add the minced garlic and ginger, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
◦ Add the thinly sliced cabbage, julienned carrot, and sliced red bell pepper to the skillet.
◦ Stir-fry the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are tender but still crisp.
3. Add the Sauce:
◦ In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce or tamari, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sriracha (if using).
◦ Pour the sauce over the stir-fried vegetables, stirring to coat them evenly.
◦ Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
4. Season and Garnish:
◦ Season the stir-fry with salt and pepper to taste.
◦ Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
5. Serve:
◦ Serve the cabbage stir-fry hot, over cooked rice or noodles if desired.
