Grilled Tofu & Asparagus

Grilled Tofu & Asparagus is a simple yet delicious dish that combines the savory flavors of marinated tofu with the fresh, slightly charred taste of grilled asparagus. This vegan recipe is perfect for a healthy and satisfying meal.

Grilled Tofu & Asparagus


Tofu: 1 block of extra-firm tofu, pressed and sliced into thick slabs
Asparagus: 1 bunch of asparagus, trimmed
3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive Oil: For brushing the asparagus
Lemon Zest: For garnish
Fresh Herbs: Chopped parsley or basil for garnish
Sesame Seeds: Optional, for garnish



Prepare the Tofu:
Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Slice into thick slabs.
In a shallow dish, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, maple syrup, minced garlic, ground ginger, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
Add the tofu slabs to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Prepare the Asparagus:
Trim the woody ends off the asparagus. Toss the asparagus in a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Grill the Tofu and Asparagus:
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
Grill the tofu for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until grill marks appear and the tofu is heated through.
Grill the asparagus for about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are tender and slightly charred.

Arrange the grilled tofu and asparagus on a serving platter.
Garnish with lemon zest, chopped fresh herbs, and sesame seeds if using.
